Certificates in Transport Management (CTM)

The Institute’s Certificate in Transport Management (CTM) introduces a new route to both Institute membership and professional competence.

Closely following the OCR Transport Manager’s Certificate of Professional Competence syllabi as detailed in EU 1071/2009, the CTM allows students the option to undertake home study or attend courses being provided by Institute members.

Having completed the modular study course, candidates can elect to sit the Institute’s own internal staged examinations and thereby work their way up through the membership grades to Associate Membership, or they can elect to take the OCR examinations and obtain both their Transport Manager’s Certificate of Professional Competence (TM CPC) and Associate Membership of the Institute.

The Institute recognises that many Restricted Operator Licence holders still need the skills to manage goods or passenger vehicle operations without the need to obtain an EU Certificate of Professional Competence.

The Institute Certificate can be undertaken throughout the year with Institute exams being available to suit the candidate’s needs, compared to OCR CPC exams which only take place fours times per year on pre-set dates with courses scheduled to lead up to each exam.

Undertaking the Institute’s CTM by distance learning, study can be undertaken at a pace that suits the individual, with internal examinations run “on demand”. The successful outcome leading to the award of the Institute grade of Associate Membership.

As the CTM is closely aligned with the OCR TM CPC requirements, the same route can be followed by those seeking the full qualification.

At the end of the study course, candidates will be booked to attend the OCR Examinations at a Centre near their home.
