Best wishes to David Baarda as he prepares to run Yorkshire Marathon in memory of friend

9 Sep 2019

On behalf of the Insitute the President wishes member David Baarda great success on 20th October when he runs the Yorkshire Marathon in memory of his lifelong friend and on behalf of Cancer Research.

Details of how to support David are contained in his message...

I'm running the Yorkshire Marathon!

Good afternoon

Late last year I lost a lifelong friend and colleague to cancer - Gerry Andrew.

Gerry was an exceptional friend and wonderful man, as all who knew him would appreciate. Gerry sadly lost his fight with cancer and I intend to run the Yorkshire Marathon on the 20th October in memory of Gerry and on behalf of Cancer Research, to help to continue the great work they do to find a cure for this terrible disease. I would like to raise £2,000 and would appreciate any sponsorship. Below is a link to my Just Giving page.

I have never been a runner and am finding it challenging (being no spring chicken) but remain determined to complete the marathon.. training started in earnest earlier this year and following a Calf injury and a bout of Shingles it is now going okay ( fingers crossed).

Your support would be appreciated.
