Changes to the drivers’ hours rules for PSV operators

15 Apr 2025

New regulations come into force on Monday 21 April which require changes to the drivers’ hours rules for PSV operators.

The drivers’ hours guidance will be updated to reflect these changes.

What you need to know
You must follow AETR rules on international journeys.
We’ve also updated the GB domestic breaks and length of working day section and removed the requirement to return to base or your country of residence.

The updated guidance will also include:
•    an updated list of countries for the EU and non-EU
•    an updated list of what regulations apply to drivers’ hours and working time
•    replacing any reference to ‘EU law’ with ‘assimilated drivers’ hours rules'
