Fast-track prosecutions for drivers and company breaking weight limits

17 Aug 2026

Eight drivers and a haulage company were prosecuted for breaching vehicle weight restrictions in Berkshire, resulting in fines and court costs.

The cases involved HGVs exceeding local limits on restricted roads, including repeat breaches reported by enforcement officers and members of the public.

Penalties included fines, prosecution costs and victim surcharges.

All nine cases were handled through the Single Justice Procedure, which deals with minor offences on paper.

The PPP provides shared environmental health, licensing and trading standards services for Bracknell Forest and West Berkshire councils.
