Ford announces its strongest, most capable van ever

19 Oct 2020

Ford announces its strongest, most capable van ever– a 5.0-tonne Transit for larger payloads, heavy conversions, including minibus

Ford announces the introduction of the new 5.0-tonne Transit derivative, offering customers a van or chassis cab rated to 5,000kg GVM and available at Ford dealers from late November.

The additional 300kg it delivers over the previous most-capable Transit variant will particularly appeal to customers desiring a heavier-rated donor vehicle for conversions including tippers, ambulances, police vans, and mini-coaches with 19 seats or more.

Key points:

  • New 5.0-tonne Transit is the most capable Transit load-hauler Ford has ever built; offered in a wide range of variants with uprated suspension, driveline and brakes
  • New flagship Transit available as panel van or chassis cab with 5,000kg gross vehicle mass (GVM) and net payload of up to 2,383kg on panel van or 2,558kg on factory-fitted flatbed
  • Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) 170PS 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine delivers durability, performance and fuel efficiency; class-leading 10-speed automatic gearbox optional
  • Increased GVM and payload to support heavy-duty operators in utilities and construction, opens significant conversion potential for emergency services and public transport
