Forecourts must submit pump price changes as ‘fuel finder’ launches

4 Feb 2026

Filling stations must report any alterations to their fuel prices within 30 minutes of implementation from Monday, February 2.

The real-time data is required for the launch of the Government’s open data ‘fuel finder’ scheme, which will allow consumers to easily compare prices.

It was created following a market study by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which found that competition in the retail sector for petrol and diesel had weakened in recent years, meaning that drivers are paying more than they should be for road fuel.

RAC head of policy Simon Williams said: “We hope this is the start of the journey to cheaper fuel prices around the UK.
