IVA Inspection Manual for Trailers updated

From 11 May 2026 there will be changes in the O1–O4 IVA Inspection Manual Version 13 of the O1–O4 IVA Inspection Manual.

The key updates include:

  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Clarification of evidence requirements, including trailers fitted with ABS/EBS and other electronic systems.
  • Installation of Lights: Clarification of the “two or more lamps” rule; improved format of diagrams; and inclusion of diagram to illustrate manoeuvring lamp visibility.
  • Retro Reflectors: Clarification relating to grouped lighting and additional reflectors.
  • End-outline, Position (Side), Stop and Side Marker Lamps: Clarified requirements for optional side marker lamps and updated symmetry requirements.
  • Reversing Lamps: Method of Inspection and Required Standards wording revised and Manoeuvring lamps added to section.
  • Lateral Protection: Clarification of requirements for devices fitted to exempted vehicles.
  • Tyres: Clarification of speed and load variation requirements.
  • Masses and Dimensions: Clarification to dimensional exclusions and associated notes.
  • Couplings (O1 & O2): Clarification of secondary coupling requirements.
