LeShuttle Freight Goes For Gold Securing ESPORG Security Accreditation

20 May 2025

15th May 2025: LeShuttle Freight – the faster, safer, more reliable and low carbon way to transport goods between the UK and continental Europe through the Channel Tunnel – has secured its gold accreditation for LeShuttle Freight Village, its secure, safe and dedicated space for drivers as they travel between the UK and Europe.

The gold certification by ESPORG is a highly recognised European security award within the freight and logistics industry. Businesses are marked on a variety of different elements from the hight of the barriers, the lighting, the entry/exit system and how secure it is, the camera system, and more. LeShuttle Freight was awarded gold following an in-depth audit where it met the high level of requirements needed.

ESPORG is dedicated to promoting sustainable parking solutions across Europe by developing and working with the industry to implement best practices, standards, and guidelines. All to ensure there are efficient, accessible, and environmentally friendly parking facilities.

Deborah Merrens, Chief Commercial Director at LeShuttle, comments: “LeShuttle Freight Village is a dedicated space for our truck drivers to be able to stop and enjoy a welcoming and relaxing environment, full of creature comforts and practical amenities to enhance every journey between the UK and Europe. One of the biggest priorities for the team is ensuring the space is safe and secure, giving drivers the reassurance to be able to enjoy their time with us.  By achieving the gold accreditation, it adds an additional layer of assurance and underpins our pledge to invest in and continuously improve the well-being and comfort of drivers wherever possible.”

“The gold accreditation and recognition by ESPORG is a true testament to the hard work every member of the team puts in every day. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved and will continue to go above and beyond wherever possible.”

The gold accreditation by ESPORG comes following LeShuttle Freight Village’s special commendation at the ESPORG Award 2025, in the Large Parking Area category. The commendation was awarded to LeShuttle Freight for the company’s dedication to maintaining an exceptionally high quality of service and customer care.

The success coincides with LeShuttle Freight unveiling the new branding for the secure, safe and dedicated space for drivers as they travel between the UK and Europe: LeShuttle Freight Village.

Opened in 2020, LeShuttle Freight Village is conveniently situated off the A16 motorway in Coquelles with over 270 spaces available. More than just a space to park their truck, LeShuttle Freight Village provides drivers with a multitude of services, from a food truck where drivers can enjoy freshly cooked food and drink options, and free hot drinks in the lounge. Practical amenities include showers, laundry facilities, a 24/7 self-service shop and Wi-Fi to ensure drivers have everything they could need at their fingertips. What’s more, to bring fun to drivers’ days, there is also s schedule of live events, giveaways, and sporting showcases which are free to attend.

LeShuttle Freight Village has welcomed nearly 1 million visitors since its opening as drivers use the service as part of their journey to and from continental Europe.

As leaders in low-carbon cross-Channel transportation, approximately 1.2 million trucks were transported through the tunnel in 2024 aboard one of the 15 Truck Shuttles. LeShuttle Freight is a vital link in the global supply chain and carries a quarter of the goods exchanged between the UK and continental Europe thanks to the speed, ease and flexibility of its service with up to 6 departures per hour. At 800m long, each Truck Shuttle can carry up to 32 trucks for the 35-minute journey between Folkestone and Calais.
