Minimum Wage Increase

The minimum wage has been increased for 2022. Details below show the current rates of pay.

National Living Wage

Age 23 or over       £9.50  

National Minimum Wage

Age 21 – 22            £9.18

Age 18 – 20            £6.83

Under 18                £4.81

Apprentice             £4.81

The minimum wage was first introduced in 1999 for workers over 22 years of age, with a separate rate for 18-21 year olds, surprisingly the apprentice rate was not being introduced until 2010.
