New accreditation scheme to de-risk business driving launched

18 Sep 2026

IAM RoadSmart has launched a professional accreditation programme to help organisations understand and improve how they manage the risks associated with driving for work.

Built on recognised industry best practice and aligned with the latest Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) work-related road safety framework, the IAM RoadSmart Accreditation Scheme evaluates how effectively organisations manage:

  • driver risk
  • legal compliance and duty-of-care responsibilities
  • safety performance

Organisations can achieve Bronze, Silver or Gold status. Rather than relying on a simple compliance checklist, the scheme assesses real-world evidence and recognises how effectively risk is managed in practice—not merely which documents an organisation holds.

Visit the Driver Risk Accreditation Scheme website to register. Further information will then be provided about the programme, including the assessment process, evidence requirements and expected timelines.
