Port of Felixstowe - concerns re driver safety due to incorrect actions

12 Dec 2025

We are seeing a rise in reports of drivers exiting their cabs on the aprons to adjust twistlocks. This presents a serious safety risk and cannot continue.

With immediate effect, the following sanctions will apply:

First Warning – 2‑week ban
Second Warning – Permanent ban

Our aim is to avoid banning drivers, so we ask that you urgently communicate this message to all your drivers.

Drivers must remain in their cabs at all times, except when:

Using a designated Haulier Bay
Under the canopy at the Gates (Not on the aprons)
Using the safe walkways within the THAs

These measures are in place to protect the safety of all Port users.
