Stellantis recalls 44,000 cars due to fire risk

9 Apr 2026

Stellantis is recalling Citroen, DS, Peugeot and Vauxhall models powered by its 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine due to a risk of fire.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted in due course and their vehicle will require a 30 minute fix at a dealership.

This latest recall comes in the wake of a fuel pipe issue that led to 72,000 cars being identified as a fire risk.

Vehicles affected by the current recall include: Citroen C3, C3 Aircross, C4 and C4 X; DS 3 Crossback; Peugeot 208 and 2008, and Vauxhall Corsa, Frontera, Mokka.

The recall centres on the potential for the engine’s gasoline particulate filter (GPF) pipe to come into contact with the pole protection cup of the 48V Belt Starter Generator (BSG). This contact can cause water to enter the engine which can lead to overheating and even engine fires. This is part of a global recall that will see some 700,000 cars recalled.
