16 Jun 2025

Evidence review of bus and coach use among disabled people and those with certain protected characteristics, with a focus on health conditions and impairments.

The research presents findings from an evidence review on the accessibility and inclusivity of bus and coach services.

The Department for Transport commissioned NatCen to explore gaps in the current research evidence base. Their report:

  • examines the experiences of disabled individuals and those with certain other protected characteristics, with a particular focus on health conditions and impairments
  • explores perceptions, barriers and enablers to using bus and coach services
  • identifies best practices for stops and stations to enhance accessibility, inclusivity and personal safety
