Vehicle safety recalls: digital service improvements

21 Aug 2023

Last month DVSA announced that they were working directly with several vehicle manufacturers to provide motorists with more up to date safety recall information.

The first two improvements to the MOT testing service and MOT certificate went live in July.

Improving our digital services

DVSA have added two further improvements to help motorists be more aware of vehicle safety recalls. These will appear on:

•            the ‘check the MOT history of a vehicle’ service -which will include a prompt to users when a vehicle registration entered has an outstanding recall on it

•            MOT reminders – subscribers will now receive a prompt if their vehicle has an outstanding recall when they receive their MOT reminder

Recalls information from manufacturers that are not yet supplying data direct to DVSA will continue to be updated by SMMT and can be checked using the vehicle recall service.
