ZIPCAR to cease UK operation

5 Dec 2025

Car-sharing company Zipcar is planning to shut down its UK operations by the end of the year, subject to a consultation with its 71 employees.

The US-based business, owned by Avis Budget, has informed customers that new bookings will be suspended after December 31.

According to an Avis Budget spokesperson, the decision to exit the UK market from 2026 is part of a strategy "to streamline operations, improve returns, and position the company for long-term sustainability and growth."
