Two HGV drivers have been prosecuted after they breached weight restrictions while travelling through a Berkshire village. Both offences took place on 21 January on Church Road in Aldermaston, near Reading, which has a 7.5-tonne weight limit.
Enforcement officers from the Public Protection Partnership (PPP) spotted the lorries exceeding the limit.
An 18 tonne HGV and a 23.4 tonnes truck breached the restriction. After a guilty pleas by the drivers they were fined £200 plus a £180 contribution to prosecution costs and an £80 victim surcharge with the second being fined £65 plus a contribution of £180 to prosecution costs and victim surcharge of £26.
A PPP spokesperson said: “It is an offence to drive a vehicle through a restricted area where the vehicle exceeds the weight limit imposed, unless delivering or collecting items within the weight restriction.
