Spain's Administrative Control Document Goes Digital Starting October 2026

5 Oct 2026

The digitalization of logistics documentation continues to advance in Spain with a new requirement for road freight transport: the Administrative Control Document must be managed electronically. This marks a major step toward eliminating paper-based processes while enabling a more traceable, efficient, and interoperable approach to document management.

The Administrative Control Document, also known as the control document, is the mandatory document required for public road freight transport within Spain. Its primary purpose is to provide authorities with the essential details of a transport operation during roadside inspections.

The requirement itself is not new, the document has already been mandatory for years. What is changing is its format. Beginning October 5, 2026, the Electronic Administrative Control Document, known as DeCA, will become mandatory for domestic read freight transport in Spain.
