Take care when uploading documents to VOL

24 Aug 2021

Office of The Traffic Commissioner warns to take care when uploading documents to the Vehicle Operator Licensing system (VOL)

The message is intended for operators and external representatives using the VOL system.

Most operators who use the VOL self-service functionality will carry out their own administration, uploading their own documents to their own account. However, some operators use external representatives to carry out the administration of the licence. This could be an external transport manager, a consultant or a legal representative.

Many of these will carry out similar roles across a number of different operators. Recently we have experienced consultants mistakenly uploading documents to the wrong operator’s account. This not only causes confusion and delays but could be a breach of data security.

If you carry out administration for more than one operator, please take extra care to ensure that the correct documents are being uploaded to the intended licence.
