Road Safety Week 2025, the national campaign run by Brake, the road safety charity, takes place from 16 to 22 November 2025 with the theme of ‘Safe Vehicles Safe Lives’. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the impact of road death and injury and call for key measures to make roads safer.
The week begins on World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, with figures of 1,700 people being killed on UK roads every year, and a further 30,000 receive serious, life-changing injuries. The charity Brake highlights the unacceptability of the tragedy that it says must be stopped
As part of Road Safety Week, Brake is hosting a free webinar on Wednesday, November 19 at 10:00 with free places available for organisations that employ people who drive for work. Places on the webinar can be booked at www.brake.org.uk/road-safety-week-webinar. An action pack of free resources will be provided to assist people to take part.
This year, Brake is focusing on the significance of vehicles designed to prevent crashes and minimize harm if a crash occurs. Safe vehicles are a key aspect of the safe systems approach to road safety, which aims to reduce deaths and serious injuries from road crashes through shared responsibility.
Brake is urging the UK Government to require life-saving technology in all new vehicles, aligning with the vehicle General Safety Regulations now in place in Europe.
