A rural crime crackdown across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire with a focus on the A16 in November included HGVs in the 25 vehicles stopped.
Of the HGVs stopped 3 were overloaded, including one carrying tomatoes that was overloaded by 6 tonnes and received £200 FPN.
Waste carriers stopped by the environment agency resulted in 4 drivers being given advice and guidance and one driver issued with £300 FPN for having no operator licence after being caught without a tachograph card.
Two lorries were issued with immediate prohibitions, one for missing adequate driver side rear view mirror; the other for exposed tyre cords, defective stop lamps, insecure seat belts and under inflated tyre.
A delayed prohibition was issued to another lorry because of an engine fluid leak and 16 vehicles were tested for red diesel.
Cambridgeshire’s rural crime action team and coordinator of the operation, said: “We understand the frustration of those who are victims of crime such as agricultural and machinery theft, and so days such as this are a perfect chance for us to work together to seek stolen property and disrupt criminals.”
