Government ‘better connected’ strategy launched

7 Apr 2026

A new Government strategy on domestic transport – Better Connected – has been launched, promising a raft a changes to improve travel.

Fleets will welcome the news that drivers are set to benefit from the expansion of the National Parking Platform, allowing them to use any parking app across participating car parks, ending the frustrating experience of having to download a different app each time.

Local councils are also being given the tools to replicate joined-up systems already in place in cities like Liverpool, London and Nottingham, where passengers travel on different transport while tapping their bank card as payment, without having to use multiple tickets or apps.

The strategy also announces a new partnership with Google, allowing passengers across England to track their bus in real time through Google Maps.

The service, it says, will be especially useful for passengers in rural areas where bus services are less frequent.
