Government Launches Depot Charging Scheme for Vans, HGVs and Coaches

2 Apr 2026

The government has confirmed that £1bn of funding is being allocated to support zero-emission transition for vans, HGVs and coaches.

The scheme will support the installation of charging infrastructure at fleet depots, and applicants can apply for up to 70% of charge point and civil costs, up to a maximum of £1 million across all sites. The Depot Charging Scheme is expected to be worth £170 million and will run until 2030.

The Depot Charging Scheme supports uptake of zero-emission HGVs, vans and coaches by part-funding the installation of charging infrastructure at fleet depots. The first application window runs from 25 March 2026 to 30 June 2026 (or earlier if funding is exhausted), and will fund 70% of chargepoint and civil costs, up to £1 million across all sites.

  • Opening date: 25 March 2026, 12:00pm (Midday)
  • Closing date: 30 June 2026, 12:00pm (Midday)
