A haulage boss’s wife was prosecuted and ordered to pay more than £1,800 after being pressured to illegally extend her driving hours, an inquiry heard.
Lena Foden, a driver for Mick Foden Commercials, said her husband pressured her to use two driver cards because the business was struggling financially.
Deputy traffic commissioner Dr Paul Stookes said Mick Foden told her the penalty would be only a £200 fine.
After a DVSA roadside stop near Preston, she admitted 19 false tachograph record offences and was fined £451, plus a £184 victim surcharge and £1,200 in costs.
She also said she exceeded her hours to find safe, hygienic parking, which she felt was often lacking, especially for women drivers.
The commissioner said Lena was partly responsible, but her husband and former transport manager Jaspreet Kang were equally to blame.
Her professional driving licence was suspended for four months.
